We’re one year old!
The community that’s grown up around this blog is now one year old plus a few days. The blog was "born" on December 15 which I guess makes it a Sagittarius.
What does 2007 hold?
I honestly don’t know, but I do know this:
Last year, I posted eighty-six articles and received 434 comments. Not bad for a spare time effort.
I also know that when we started, most folks weren’t too sure that Internet video had much a future. It seems kind of marginal and faddish, they said.
Then a long came YouTube and the cover of Time Magazine.
I think Internet video is here to stay…
What do you think?
Got any predictions or hot ideas for Internet video in 2007?
Ken
P.S. Please tell your friends about us so we can make our network even smarter:

Hi Ken,
I just wanted to say that I really apreciate your efforts to make this blog a valuable resouce.
I have gotten many good ideas from reading the information posted here.
I would like to add something that the novice marketers may find valuable.
Video presentations, just like direct response headlines, need to be tested to measure their effectiveness.
I have personally used video that I thought was great but after testing, found it actually hurt sales instead of helping.
On the other side of the coin, I’ve tested video that I thought really sucked but found it boosted conversion rates.
Well, again, thank you Ken.
Larry T.
It’s weird, ain’t it.
Thank goodness for the spirit of testing (i.e. “I don’t know. I’ll let the market tell me.”)
Hi Ken,
I just want to say great job on the blog!!!
It is very true that video is going to take
over in 2007 and it is awesome that you are
helping people know it.
Keep up the good work,
Kevin Rohan

Thanks for inspiring me to dip my toe into the use of videos. I’ve not done my own promotional one yet – will soon – but I’ve done two things I wouldn’t have otherwise.
The first was to start a ‘video library’ page on one of my blogs. When I come across subject-related videos I get the owner’s permission and upload them to Google and put the viewer code onto my page. It’s gone down very well with my readers. I also find that the videos’ owners are happy to get the extra exposure and distribution without the cost of producing more hard copies.
The second was just the other day when I’d created an e-Christmas card in PowerPoint featuring a 3D animation created by our PowerPoint add-in (Perspector) and which I wanted to share with our AWeber mailing list. There are real problems posting animated PowerPoint slides on the web (at least when you have no time to convert it into flash and do all sorts of fancy things) so what I did was to capture 45 seconds of the animation as an avi file using Camtasia, and post it to Google Video! The image quality isn’t great, but it has done the job and one sixth of our list has viewed it, and I’m sure more will after the holidays. I’ve put a link to it on my name below, in case anyone wants to have a look.
So thanks again, and have a good Christmas and New Year! Steve
Hi Ken,
A big shout out from the Great White North – that’s like Canada, eh! Thanks so much for all the insights you have shared over the past 12 months. This blog is an an incredible resource for us all to learn from.
Speaking of predictions, I’ve got a fun video to share that was posted at the AdCritic.com website several years ago. I’m not sure if this spoof clip ever went viral or not. It was much tougher to achieve viral status back before the days of YouTube (aka GooTube).
The video clip is about the future of database marketing, a topic that is near and dear to my heart. However, after AOL’s recent debacle over the release of user search data, I’m guessing this prediction is still a ways off…. Enjoy.

Ken,
Where else could I find both practical knowledge on how to make Internet video work for me (a small business owner with a limited budget) and creative thinking that fire up my marketing imagination? No where else.
Thank you for creating a unique, valuable resource!
Happy new year!
Happy Birthday Blog 🙂 I predict our first book Confessions of a Butcher will sell like hotcakes, John Smith the author will become a successful columnist and be financially well rewarded as we begin to create a site that includes his video clips, recipes, tips and column archive.
thanks for the inspiration and all the valuable tips you pass on. Have a merry christmas and a blessed new year.

Thanks to your blog and all the comments, suggestions, and insights, online video helped me turn what could’ve been a personal disaster into a huge triumph.
You see, all the initial plans I’d made to propose to my girlfriend fell through and my back was against the wall. However, thanks to the miracle of the internet and YouTube, everything went amazingly well. It was great!
